I was lucky enough to find Sherri after trying numerous other modalities, of which nothing really worked. Prior to MFR I tried: Massage therapy, Acupuncture, Trigger Point Dry Needling, Active Release Technique, Chiropractors, and had seen various other Medical Doctors. I knew there was something wrong with me, being a Medical Student, but could not figure out how to fix myself. I used to be in really good shape but after years of doing crossfit my fascia became extremely wound up to the point I couldn’t engage my muscles pretty much all over my body. After ONE session with Sherri I saw drastic improvement and finally had some hope. Now, 2 months later, I am beginning to see the light, in that the light is getting back to training like how I used to. I am so grateful for how hard Sherri works in trying to get me back to where I used to be. She is one of the most kind, caring, and compassionate people I have ever met and I am proud to call her one of my friends. She will go above and beyond to help you and she WILL fix you, if you give her the chance. She has also began to do Kinesio-taping, which if you have never tried, you really should! I have to end my treatment in a few days because I am moving back to New York and I am EXTREMELY sad to be leaving because I know I’ll never find a therapist as good as her anywhere else. Go see Sherri, you will not be disappointed.

Sherrie Phillips is an extraordinary MFR practitioner. I went to Sherrie on a recommendation from my wife as she tries to help me deal with continual pain issues and the associated depression. I had been through numerous therapies and medication regiments and nothing would lessen the pain I felt in my chest and various joints. She listened intently to my medical history and even caught me trying to make less of my pains than I like to admit. During the first session she diagnosed the cause of my chest pain that I have had since 2005 and corrected the issue over the next several treatments. I am now at a point where I am mostly pain free with bi-monthly MRF treatments. I had also been diagnosed with Cubital Tunnel Syndrome and was being pressured to schedule surgery to relieve the pain in my elbows and the numbness in my hands. Sherrie has all but eliminated this “syndrome” with her MFR and unwinding treatments. I recommend that anyone who has undergone an injury, surgery or has daily pain to schedule an MFR treatment with Sherrie. You will be amazed at how good you feel after the first treatment and how the follow on maintenance treatments will improve not only your pain level but your mental health as well.

I have known Sherrie Phillips for over six years now. I have known her in the capacity as a massage therapist, wellness professional, and most recently as a myofascial release practitioner.

I travel for a living and am frequently lifting heavy suitcases and often have low back pain and hip pain. I also spend significant time in front of a computer and have tightness in my upper body. Through myofascial releaase therapy, I have been able to seek pain relief and this allows me to continue to perform at a high function for my job.

Sherrie has also worked on my husband, son and daughter. When my daughter sprained her achilles tendon, Sherrie helped her to come back to her sport safely and taught her the stretches and habits needed to avoid a repeat of this type of injury.

Sherrie has also been very giving of her time to the community. She has volunteered at several local Girl Scout events to teach wellness, stretching, nutrition, and relaxation techniques. I am not able to say anything other than I wholeheartedly would recommend Sherrie for pain management and wellness.

I simply want to state that I highly recommend Sherrie’s services. She is a skilled MFR practitioner and my family has benefited from her skillful care. My husband has had a chronic lower back issue caused by a weight lifting accident that occurred almost 20 years ago. She identified that the exercises he had been dependent on for all these years was actually part of the issue. If he missed one night doing the previous exercises, he developed back pain or reinjured his back. Over a year ago, Sherrie gave him new exercises to do every other night. He recently went on a trip and forgot to do his exercises for an entire week. He had no adverse effect. I referred my mother (64 yo) to Sherrie for neck and back pain she has developed over the course of her career as an ER nurse. She had 1 or 2 sessions during her short visit to VA a year ago. Her neck is only recently starting to bother her again. I recommended her services to my mother, because Sherrie had also returned full range of motion to my neck. Just recently, Sherrie treated my 4 year old daughter. I took her in because she has a birth injury that has continued to impair her motor abilities due to misalignment. Sherrie treated her once or twice a year ago, but from my perspective, my daughter did not seem to tolerate the sessions that well. This time, Sherrie worked on her for over an hour. The session was pretty intense for my little one, but the difference was undeniable. After that one session, my daughter almost looks like a typical 4 year old when she runs, and I can tell that she feels more comfortable and confident performing gross motor tasks. She still needs work done, but I am optimistic that the improvements will ultimately prevent lifelong asymmetry and physical awkwardness.

I am an occupational therapist by training. I was exposed to MFR at a conference about 10 years ago. I praise God that he exposed me to this method of treatment years ago, so that I would be able to help my daughter. She received traditional physical therapy (PT) services when she was initially diagnosed with torticollis as a baby. Apparently the problem was not fully corrected, though she was discharged as fully recovered. I sought additional PT services recently, since it was obvious to me that she was continuing to have gross motor difficulties and asymmetry that were not improving with time. The PT services have been helpful, but have not been able to effectively treat the underlying problem.

I went to see Sherrie in August of 2010 to try and get some help with a shoulder injury I sustained weightlifting. I had been to my family doctor (who was no help), and a physical therapist, who provided a slight improvement.
Sherrie was recommended by my Chiropractor. I called Sherrie and told her my story. She took quite a bit of time listening to how I thought the injury had happened, how it felt and what had been done up to that point. When I met her for my appointment, she spent at least 20-30 minutes moving my arm/shoulder through a range of motion and strength tests. She then explained what she thought the injury/problem was. After 2or 3 sessions, most of the pain was gone and my full range of motion was returning. Most importantly I could surf and lift weights again without pain or the fear that I was further damaging the joint.
Sherrie’s knowledge of body structure and mechanics, combined with her massage and bodywork techniques make her one of the most effective massage therapists I have found. I continue to see her for massages and injury prevention work because of the results she produces.

  6. Abby says:

I have arthritis and fibromyalgia. I have struggled with chronic pain and fatigue for years. Medications have not helped much. My flare-ups would be extreme and have severely impacted my life. I work in physical rehabilitation and am very familiar with myofascial release (MFR) but did not know any qualified therapists. Then I was referred to Sherrie by one of her clients who also has fibromyalgia. Well, Sherrie is more than qualified. She is a certified massage therapist but she is also a certified MFR therapist. From your first phone call, to your first appointment, and beyond, Sherrie will get to know you and your particular issues. Her treatment strategy is based on relieving your pain and improving the quality of your everyday life. Sherrie understands how your body deals with pain and stress and knows how to treat it. She has a skillful touch and a caring attitude. Sherrie teaches her clients treatment strategies they can do at home to better manage their condition. Since I have been coming to Sherrie, my overall pain level is down. My range of motion and functional mobility has improved. I continue to have flare-ups but they happen less often and are not as severe. Sherrie has improved the quality of my life and given me better control over my pain.
