Sherrie Phillips has been involved in the fields of health and wellness for over 25 years. She received her degree in fitness and nutrition in 1988. She became a Certified Personal Trainer in 1994 and is recognized as a Master Practical Trainer by the American Council on Exercise. Sherrie is also certified as a Post-Rehab Conditioning Specialist, Medical Exercise specialist, and an aerobics instructor.
In the early 2000’s, Sherrie began her training as a massage therapist. She graduated from the Advanced Fuller School of Massage Therapy in 2003. Sherrie received national certification from the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, and is state certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Health Professionals. Sherrie has also attended the Cayce/Reilly School of Massotherapy and the Dr. Vodder School with an emphasis on lymphatic massage and manual lymph drainage.
Sherrie began studying the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach® in 2009. Myofascial Release is an innovative and highly effective whole body approach for the evaluation and treatment of pain and dysfunction. Sherrie is certified to perform myofascial release, myofascial rebounding, and myofascial unwinding. In addition, she is certified in pediatric myofascial release. Sherrie has trained directly under John F. Barnes and is recognized as an Advanced Therapist.
In addition to her work as a massage therapist and a myofascial release therapist, Sherrie is very involved in her community and is an advocate for the disabled. She was appointed to the Governor’s Board for the Blind and Visually Impaired from 2006 – 2012. The Board advises the Governor, the Secretary of Health and Human Resources, the Commissioner, and the General Assembly on the delivery of public services to, and the protection of the rights of, persons with disabilities. Sherrie has also served as the Vice Chair of The Disability Services Bureau in Chesapeake, VA. Sherrie is involved with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and volunteers with Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and Hospice.
Sherrie currently lives in Chesapeake, Virginia where she runs her own clinic specializing in pain management “A Vision Beyond Light”.
